As part of MX Player’s (now Amazon Prime MX Player) web series “Express Yourself” on river conservation, the documentation of the Mithi River in Mumbai, highlights its fragile state amidst rapid urbanization. Through powerful visuals, the work shed light on the pressing issues of unchecked plastic waste, untreated sewage, and industrial effluents that flow into the river every day. The photographs not only revealed the stark contrast between the river’s historical significance and its present crisis but also emphasized the urgency of reducing plastic usage and adopting sustainable practices. By weaving together the human connection with the river and the environmental challenges it faces, the campaign aimed to spark conversations on how collective responsibility can help restore the lifeline of the city.
